Happy Birthday to my 12 year old son.

My son turned 12 today. We tried to make the day special for him.I made him a birthday cake using my new cake decorating kit. I think it turned out cute.

Rosco even tried to get in on the fun. His face is covered in powdered sugar.

I started by covering the cake in white frosting then I took two round lids to imprint the circles into the frosting. Then I decorated each circle in different colors.

Here is the cake with the crazy birthday candles we found.

Ansir thought the cake was "cool".

After we sang happy birthday he blew out the candles. He had to take three tries to get all those candles out.

Here is Ansir eating his cake.

He kinda looks like a Zombie in this picture.

Here is the cake cut. As you can see we didn't use plane boring white cake. Instead we used a cherry chip cake.
I pray the Lord will bless this new year of his life.

Valentines Day Suprise!

We went to Tims for the weekend and when I arrived Tim had already left for work. On the table I found these beautiful roses and this funky monkey. There was also a wonderful home cooked meal awaiting our grumbling tummies.

Here is a close up of some of the roses. Aren't they beautiful.

The last time I received flowers from my husband it was 3 years ago. I know that they will just die in the end but while they are alive they do bring me joy and make me feel special.

Happy Valentines Day!

I started my morning by surprising my son with several Valentines posted through out the house. I placed one in each area of the house he usually goes. The bathroom, the dishwasher, cupboard, dog food, fish food, vacuum and in the car. He it was cute. The kids in the classroom were just a little excited for their party. It is hard to get any work done with so much excitement lurking in the air. I had bought special Valentine pencils to give each of the children. When I started sharpening them I discovered that they were a waist of $ out of 20 pencils only 6 would actually sharpen. Talk about frustrating. Aside from that set back the kids had a good day. We did have several valentine activities and delivered our valentines. We even a contest for the best homemade boxes. The kids couldn't wait to dig in to their treats. After all was said and done the room was a mess and I was exausted. However I still mannaged to suprise my son with a dinner out. Originally we were going to go to Olive Garden however we qui ckly changed our minds when we discovered that the wait was 1 1/2 hrs long. We finally settled on IHOP. After all who doesn't like breakfast! I hope you each found someone to share this day of love with. Just remember that the greatest Valentine of all was given to us 2000 years ago when God sent his son to die for us so that we might live in heaven with him for all of eternity.

New Endevors???

I have had a discussion with my principal about the possibility of me teaching music next year in our school. I wonder if I will be capable. I will have all the teacher books etc and some one will be teaching my students two mornings a week while I teach p-5th grade. It sounds interesting an fun since I had originally wanted to have a music emphases in my degree. Perhaps I can take some classes this summer that will help. I certainly love music and am always looking for opportunities to impress that love upon the children that God has entrusted to me. Keep me in your prayers as this possibility is considered. Who knows perhaps I can still get my music endorsement. After all I already teach the Jr. Choir and direct the Christmas and Spring Musicals not to mention leading our VBS Music program. What's one more thing?
