Painting The House

Today Ansir and I decided to paint the house. When we moved in the paint came with the house and to my surprise it was still good for painting.

I am amazed in the difference in color. I always thought my house was yellow. Now it is really yellow!

I absolutely love the brightness of the house now.

Ansir was my detail man. Since he has had lots of practice at work he was my prime choice for a helper on this project. Next up the white trim.

Garden Update!

I have my first pepper growing on my plant. I am so excited and I see at least 4 more that are starting.

Here are the beans that my mother replanted about a week and a half ago they are growing very quickly and I had to build a rope fence for them to climb up.

My potatoes are growing like crazy and there are several of them in bloom with these pretty purple flowers.

I will not be showing you my corn as it still looks very sad. But it is starting to grow and perhaps next week this time it will be worthy of a picture. My lettuce and spinach is growing so quickly I can hardly pick it fast enough. I have taken a bag full to each of my next door neighbors and they were very excited. i also have a ton in the fridge! It is great to have fresh veggies on the table for every meal.

Creation of the Confirmation Cakes

After my mother got here the wednesday before confirmation I had pleanty of work to keep us busy. But the most fun thing we did was to create Ansir's confirmation cakes.

This was step two. The first step was to bake and crumb coat the cake with butter cream frosting. Then we covered it with white fondant.

Next we had to cut out lots and lots of little flowers from the fondant frosting.

I also cut three crosses for the second cake we made.

This is the partially finished cake. It turned out just like I wanted it to. I absolutely loved the cake.

Here is Ansir with the finished cake.

For the second cake I cut letters out of a blue marbleized fondant that I created by adding blue food coloring to the white fondant.

I was able to change the design several times before gluing the letters down with fondant.

I finished by topping each of the crosses with a blue flower.

Here is Ansir with his finished cake. John 3:16 is one of his favorite verses not actually his confirmation verse.

So which cake do you like best?

Bible Memory

I was talking to my son this afternoon telling him that I would like for him to continue to memorize Bible verses over the summer. He is very good at doing this. But then I began to think that if he can do it perhaps I can also. So I dug out the flash cards that he used when studying for the Bible Bee. I chose the smaller ones for my self to get started with while he will be moving on to much more lengthly ones. I will be keeping a record on my blog to help keep myself accountable. So if you do not see my list update at least twice a week please comment or email me and encourage me to continue working on it. After all we should arm our selves with Gods word so that it is always on our minds and our hearts. I would also like to encourage each of you to take some time to put some of God's word to memory also.

Ansir's Confirmation

Ansir looked so handsome in his confirmation gown. It is hard to believe how grown up he has become over the past 5 years. We are so proud of him and look forward to seeing how God will be using him in his lifetime.

Here is Ansir receiving the blessing and his Confirmation Verse John 14:6I Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

We were very blessed to have most of our family here to witness this special occasion and to help us celebrate. Here is Ansir's Aunt Brandy and her three beautiful girls. Her husband Austin had to work so unfortunately he had to miss this special event.

Grandpa Sutton was able to come up from Montana but Grandma was unable to drive the distance. She was indeed missed.

This is a picture of my entire side of the family who was able to attend.

This is a picture of Ansir with all of his cousins.

Uncle Birk and Aunt Charity traveled about 16 hours to attend Ansir's confirmation. They are also his baptismal sponsors. What a joy to have them make the trip

Nana and Papa would not have missed it for the world. They even came a few days early to help with all of the preparations.

Aunt Charity snuck a kiss from Ansir in the receiving line at the church.

Here are the cakes that I made special for Ansir. They were very fun to make watch for a post on their creation.

Papa helped Ansir put on his tie. I love this picture. I also want you to take note that Ansir has now grown taller than his Papa.

Praise the Lord for helping us teach our son about His love and compassion. I pray that he will continue to help us complete that job as Ansir passes through his High School years and beyond.

Weekend work

This weekend we worked on our patio. It may be a while before it is officially finished but just laying gravel made it look so much better. Plus now it will not be muddy when we sit out there for confirmation. Now I just need some stairs up to the door. We might have to add some makeshift stairs for now.
