Living in the Word!

I am afraid that something has been lost in many of our churches today. We claim to be followers of Christ yet we are all to quick to brush aside the one true Word of God. Instead we tend to rely greatly on the catechism our hymnals and Bible Story Books. While these are great tools they should never replace the Bible. Sometimes I wonder what Martin Luther would be thinking if he were alive today. He worked so hard to get the Bible into the hands of every day people yet we don't use them in our churches. Instead we rely on overhead screens and pamphlets that have God's word imprinted on them. At the end of the service these pamphlets are tossed into the trash and the screen is turned off leaving us to wander in darkness until the next Sunday. Is this what God wanted so many years ago when he gave the men the words to write. I hardly think so. When we do not have our pastors and elders of the church standing before us humbly reading Gods word from the Bible in it's entirety it is telling us that it is not important that we also open the Word of God. It is a struggle every day to be disciplined enough to read, listen and learn from God's word. We need good examples to lead and encourage us to stay active. What will happen if one day our Bibles, hymnals etc. would be stripped from our hands. Would we know the Word well enough to pass it down to our children and their children? Or would the Word be lost with its pages? When was the last time you followed along in your Bible while the lessons were being read in Church? When was the last time you opened your Bible to read one of the Bible truths to your children? When was the last time you sat down and read in order to hear wat God has planed for you? I ask the Lord to forgive me for not being as faithful as I should be in reading his Word and I ask him to help me to stay avtive. I don't wan't to be like the virgions who were not prepared when the bride groom came. They let their lamps go out. They were not prepared for what was to come. They did not know when he would come and they were not ready. Just like we don't know when the Lord will return for no one knows the day or the time. Yet we must be ready the Lord tell us this. Now for the trick can you tell me where he says this. I am looking for the book of the Bible, chapter and the verses. Remember we are our childrens greatest teachers let us set the example for how they should live their lives. Get in the Word!

Fireproof

Last night Tim and I watched a great movie, Fireproof. This was a great reminder of what marriage is and how God will help his children especially when things get difficult. I would like to challenge all my friends, family and readers to rent or buy this movie and watch it together with your spouse. This movie wont fix all your marital problems but it can help you to reexamine your relationship with you spouse and God. I am planning to purchase the study material and work through it with my husband. If have already watched this movie or have completed the study material i would love to hear how it has affected your marriage. Gods Blessings to each of you as you struggle to lead your family's in the way of the Lord!

This link takes you to a powerful pro life commercial that was to be aired during the Super Bowl. NBC decided not to air it for reasons I can not begin to understand.
