Making Your Home A Haven #2

Challenge # 2 is all about adding a comforting sound to your home via music. The suggestion was to choose classical, calming or worship style music. This is right up my ally. I love music and often have it playing in the background of our home during the day. The second part of challenge #2 is will be a challenge for me. Not only should our homes sound peaceful by playing music but our attitudes, voices and temperaments should also be peaceful and loving. I try to do this however find my self taking on the attitudes of those around me. So if my son is frustrated and angry with school I tend to also become frustrated and angry. If my husband becomes frustrated or angry the same thing happens. So my Goal for this week is to keep peace in my home. Does that mean everyone will get along swimmingly. I doubt it for we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. But how I respond to the situations can make it a little more peaceful. Keeping my voice calm, my attitude positive and my thoughts on God! Lord I pray that you will help me with this challenge!

Hi Melissa. I am doing the challenge too. Definitely a challenge to not pick up on other's attitudes.

Yesterday I began by finding some awesome music and instead of a candle I turned on my wax melter. During devotions with my 14 yr old son I told him about the challenge this week and asked him for his help. I asked him to include a prayer for peace in our home during his prayer time and to also pray for it each time he saw the light shinning from the wax melter. We also discussed moments in our day when peace flies out the window and is replaced by ugliness and what we each can do to prevent it. With both of us working on making our home more peaceful it worked.. for yesterday any way. Today is a new day!

Hi Melissa. I am going to start the challenge in my home and when I am sewing, cleaning, relaxing and just taking the time to spend time at the farm or with my dog Mea, I plan to keep a song in my heart and in my home. How do I participate in goodmorning girls without being on facebook. I suffer from anxiety and it stresses me out so I no longer have a facebook account.

Aunt Debby you can still participate via Email. I have another person who currently keeps up with us that way. I will just send you my initial post and any others that get posted. I will then take your comment and post it to the site attaching your name to it. If you email me I can get your email address and begin sending you the updates.
