A Walk For a Good Cause!

This week our school held a Walk for diabetes fund raiser. The students did an awesome job raising money for research. I believe $2700 was collected. This was an event that touched home for many of our students as one of our second graders has diabetes and needs to use an insulin pump to keep his blood sugar under control. The students learned many things about diabetes this week and have realized the importance of research. Our wonderful coordinators created an obstacle course for the children to complete. this course surrounded our entire school and the children needed to complete the obstacle course as many times as they could before the end of the time allowed. Some of the obstacles included. Jumping over a stick, dribbling a soccer ball, making a basket, hopscotch, jumping rope and of course just for fun some time in a jumping castle. As you can see the students seemed to have a great time. Even if the castle caved in.

Outlaw Ranch Fieldtrip

Every year our school takes the fifth graders on an overnight field trip to Outlaw Ranch in Custer, SD. As a mother of one of those 5Th graders I was blessed to accompany them. The area is so beautiful all i can think is WOW God made this for me! He is truly an amazing God.

The children went on a beautiful nature hike. Where they learned about all of the plants and animals that find their home in the Beautiful Black Hills of SD. The children even discovered that the trees smell of vanilla and butterscotch. They were also introduced to a plant called Old Mans Beard. As you can see in the pictures they had fun tasting this edible plant.

Promehean Boards in Use

This is our 4Th grade teacher showing his students their new classroom "learning tool". Lets face it, It's more than a tool its a toy. Everyone has enjoyed learning how to use these awesome pieces of technology.

Just take a look at how engaged these 4Th graders are.

Here are some shots of my first graders doing a simple religion lesson. They are so great about taking turns completing activities on the board. I am just amazed at how it holds their attention. As with all things I am sure that the novelty will ware off eventually. Until then I will try to keep up with their enthusiasm.

Aritist In Our School

We invited a local artist into our school for one week. He took the children's drawings of Noah's Ark and turned them into a beautiful mural on our wall. The children all had a hand in designing this beautiful peace of art.

Look at how hard these kids are working. It must have taken lots of concentration to complete their piece of the picture. I find it amazing how vivid a child's imagination is.
