A Day in Dickenson

On Saturday we traveled the two hour drive to Dickinson in order to spend a day with my parents. The drive was well worth it. They however had to drive 3 and a half hours. We decided to go out to eat at a Bonanza. It has been a long time since we have eaten at one of those restaurants.

While we were there Ansir ordered shrimp. As you can see by the picture Nana was trying to snich some of them. We spent alot of te time visiting about this and that.

We spent alot of te time visiting about this and that. Ansir was just thrilled to be sitting between two of his favorite people. He has missed seeing them every day.

This was also a birthday celebration gathering. Ansir turned 13 on the 17th of Feb. I will be 34 on the 17th of March and Tim will be 31 on the 3 of April.

Here you can see Ansir with his little I dog from my sister. Trustme I bet that dog is tired. He has been dancing since we got home!

Tim was excited to get a board to hold the fish while he filets them. He also got some lours. Now he can't wait to get the boat up from storage. Although every thing is till frozen and will be for quite some time I am afraid.

Here Ansir is opening his gifts from Nana and Papa. He was very excited!

Build your own light sabers. WOW that sould be hours of fun!

Never fear. I also got a few things. New bowls and baking sheets. This is good since mine are starting to get old and rusty. We made ome of the muffins on sunday and they were delicious and didn't even stick to the pan!

When we wernt at the resturant we walked around their little mall. With my dad's knees and my husband's knees we had to take some breaks. Here are my parents looking so cute as they share a bench!

This is my mothers had reaching out to grab Tim's head. He refused to look at the camera so she was picking on him!

This is Ansir looking a tad board. We were hoping one of the museams would be open to go through but in the cold of winter noting is open!

Oh yes we can't forget the spoiled little Rosco. He got lots of gifts as well. And no it was not his birthday. He is just cute! he got this coat and a pug (stuffed aminla) from Tim and my mom got him a pigs ear, a hoof and another stuffed animal. Now his bed is really full of stuff. We had a great time and look forward to doing it again some time!

Sweet gestures!

I have been very distraught lately as my Prayer Journal has disappeared. It was the pink ribbon one just like my niece has. Any way I though perhaps my husband had jokingly or not so jokingly hidden it from me. We turned the house upside down looking for this journal. Any way last night I fell asleep around 11:00pm at midnight my husband came into the room with a gift bag and a card.
The card played the song "When God Fearing Women Get the Blues", by Martina McBride. He said that when God Fearin women get the blues they should have a place to write in. Inside the package there was a new journal witha matching pen ready to be written in! Now how sweet was that! Perhaps he didnt hde it from me after all! And yes mom I did appologise for accusing him!

Strange Happenings!!!

For those of you who don't know my husband has not been working for the last 5 or 6 weeks. He is still healing from the knee surgery that he had back in January. Well I have decided that he is starting to loose his mind!

Today after lunch I decided I should take a shower because we have church tonight and I really can't keep running around in my sweats! So I went into the bedroom (where Tim was last seen) so that I could get my towel.
Tim was missing and it was a bit too quiet. So in the picture above you can see my closet with a sleeping bag tossed on the floor.

Take a closer look! That's not just a sleeping bag. Do you see the hand?

He was softly giggling when I discovered his whereabouts. In my mind if he can maneuver him self into this position he surly can go back to work. The dog wasn't sure what to think! He was a little scared. Now if I had been thinking I would have switched the camera to video mode and videoed him getting out of this position!

Keep him in your prayers as he sees the DR. again on Tuesday. Hopefully he will get the green light to go back to work!

Ansir;s 13th Birthday Cake!

Here are the steps that I took to make Ansir's birthday cake. I sent Tim to hobby lobby to get me a square pan so that I could make the cake. He came home with a 12 by 12'' pan. In case that you don't know this seems like a big pan. It took two cake mixes to fill the pan. I followed all of the directions and couldn't wait for the cake to get baked. Well first of all the oven turned off half way through the baking. Then when it was finally finished it wouldn't come out of the pan. Finlly it came out of the pan and this is what it looked like.

Well while mixing the cake mix I discovered that my mixer is going kaput! So this moringing couldn't sleep so at8:30 am I traveled to walmart to get a new mixer. Finally I was able to make the delicious butter cream frosting.

I used fondant frosting again bought at Wal-Mart (the only all purpose store in town) to make several parts of the decorations.

As you can see I used it to make the word Blert ad the square outline. I used cookie cutters for the words. It worked very well.

So what do you think? Did they resemble each other? It was certainaly fun. one thing I always wantd to do is take a cake decorating class with my mom. Maybe one day!

Here is the almost final product. The bible and the scroll is also made from fondant! I really had a great time making this cake but was worried that I wouldent have enough time to decorate the cake and clean the house before the party!
