Sweet gestures!

I have been very distraught lately as my Prayer Journal has disappeared. It was the pink ribbon one just like my niece has. Any way I though perhaps my husband had jokingly or not so jokingly hidden it from me. We turned the house upside down looking for this journal. Any way last night I fell asleep around 11:00pm at midnight my husband came into the room with a gift bag and a card.
The card played the song "When God Fearing Women Get the Blues", by Martina McBride. He said that when God Fearin women get the blues they should have a place to write in. Inside the package there was a new journal witha matching pen ready to be written in! Now how sweet was that! Perhaps he didnt hde it from me after all! And yes mom I did appologise for accusing him!

Strange Happenings!!!

For those of you who don't know my husband has not been working for the last 5 or 6 weeks. He is still healing from the knee surgery that he had back in January. Well I have decided that he is starting to loose his mind!

Today after lunch I decided I should take a shower because we have church tonight and I really can't keep running around in my sweats! So I went into the bedroom (where Tim was last seen) so that I could get my towel.
Tim was missing and it was a bit too quiet. So in the picture above you can see my closet with a sleeping bag tossed on the floor.

Take a closer look! That's not just a sleeping bag. Do you see the hand?

He was softly giggling when I discovered his whereabouts. In my mind if he can maneuver him self into this position he surly can go back to work. The dog wasn't sure what to think! He was a little scared. Now if I had been thinking I would have switched the camera to video mode and videoed him getting out of this position!

Keep him in your prayers as he sees the DR. again on Tuesday. Hopefully he will get the green light to go back to work!

Ansir;s 13th Birthday Cake!

Here are the steps that I took to make Ansir's birthday cake. I sent Tim to hobby lobby to get me a square pan so that I could make the cake. He came home with a 12 by 12'' pan. In case that you don't know this seems like a big pan. It took two cake mixes to fill the pan. I followed all of the directions and couldn't wait for the cake to get baked. Well first of all the oven turned off half way through the baking. Then when it was finally finished it wouldn't come out of the pan. Finlly it came out of the pan and this is what it looked like.

Well while mixing the cake mix I discovered that my mixer is going kaput! So this moringing couldn't sleep so at8:30 am I traveled to walmart to get a new mixer. Finally I was able to make the delicious butter cream frosting.

I used fondant frosting again bought at Wal-Mart (the only all purpose store in town) to make several parts of the decorations.

As you can see I used it to make the word Blert ad the square outline. I used cookie cutters for the words. It worked very well.

So what do you think? Did they resemble each other? It was certainaly fun. one thing I always wantd to do is take a cake decorating class with my mom. Maybe one day!

Here is the almost final product. The bible and the scroll is also made from fondant! I really had a great time making this cake but was worried that I wouldent have enough time to decorate the cake and clean the house before the party!

Happy Birthday Ansir!

Living in the Word!

I am afraid that something has been lost in many of our churches today. We claim to be followers of Christ yet we are all to quick to brush aside the one true Word of God. Instead we tend to rely greatly on the catechism our hymnals and Bible Story Books. While these are great tools they should never replace the Bible. Sometimes I wonder what Martin Luther would be thinking if he were alive today. He worked so hard to get the Bible into the hands of every day people yet we don't use them in our churches. Instead we rely on overhead screens and pamphlets that have God's word imprinted on them. At the end of the service these pamphlets are tossed into the trash and the screen is turned off leaving us to wander in darkness until the next Sunday. Is this what God wanted so many years ago when he gave the men the words to write. I hardly think so. When we do not have our pastors and elders of the church standing before us humbly reading Gods word from the Bible in it's entirety it is telling us that it is not important that we also open the Word of God. It is a struggle every day to be disciplined enough to read, listen and learn from God's word. We need good examples to lead and encourage us to stay active. What will happen if one day our Bibles, hymnals etc. would be stripped from our hands. Would we know the Word well enough to pass it down to our children and their children? Or would the Word be lost with its pages? When was the last time you followed along in your Bible while the lessons were being read in Church? When was the last time you opened your Bible to read one of the Bible truths to your children? When was the last time you sat down and read in order to hear wat God has planed for you? I ask the Lord to forgive me for not being as faithful as I should be in reading his Word and I ask him to help me to stay avtive. I don't wan't to be like the virgions who were not prepared when the bride groom came. They let their lamps go out. They were not prepared for what was to come. They did not know when he would come and they were not ready. Just like we don't know when the Lord will return for no one knows the day or the time. Yet we must be ready the Lord tell us this. Now for the trick can you tell me where he says this. I am looking for the book of the Bible, chapter and the verses. Remember we are our childrens greatest teachers let us set the example for how they should live their lives. Get in the Word!

Fireproof

Last night Tim and I watched a great movie, Fireproof. This was a great reminder of what marriage is and how God will help his children especially when things get difficult. I would like to challenge all my friends, family and readers to rent or buy this movie and watch it together with your spouse. This movie wont fix all your marital problems but it can help you to reexamine your relationship with you spouse and God. I am planning to purchase the study material and work through it with my husband. If have already watched this movie or have completed the study material i would love to hear how it has affected your marriage. Gods Blessings to each of you as you struggle to lead your family's in the way of the Lord!

This link takes you to a powerful pro life commercial that was to be aired during the Super Bowl. NBC decided not to air it for reasons I can not begin to understand.
